The strawberry is a member of the Rosaceae (Rose) family and goes by the scientific name of Fragaria x ananassa. The letter “x” in its name indicates that strawberry is of hybrid origin and, in the case of strawberry, of two different species. The origin of that hybridization is very interesting and involves a Pan American union that occurred in Europe. Our farmer uses the camarosa strawberry, an early short day variety that produces large to very large, firm, deep red fruit.
Called “the queen of fruits,” the health benefits of strawberries include improved eye care, proper brain function, relief from high blood pressure, arthritis, gout, and various cardiovascular diseases. The impressive polyphenolic antioxidant content of strawberries make them good for improving the immune system, preventing against various types of cancers, and for reducing the signs of premature aging.

This is a really nice experience if you want to get into the local out of the city culture. There was a lot of stories and facts during all the experience. You definitely have some good moments to enjoy and relax. Tasting is really nice starting with the local sweet, and then the visit to the farm. Strawberries are really good. Duarte is really nice helpful, caring, friendly, and talkative.
