About the Carcavelos Wine Tasting Experience
Experience the rich wine tradition of Carcavelos on a guided wine tasting tour near Lisbon, Portugal. This unique experience introduces you to the history and character of local vineyards and wines, offering a soulful tasting of premium Carcavelos wines paired with expert guidance and local insights.
Enjoy an unique wine tasting near Lisbon, where you’ll visit a small family winery in Barcarena and learn about the history, production, and grapes of this historic Portuguese fortified wine. Taste a selection of local wines including white, red, and the traditional Carcavelos wine, guided by knowledgeable hosts in a relaxed vineyard setting.
Our small winery was set up in the late 70s and is the only private producer of the famous “Wine of Carcavelos”. On the Tour you will learn about the history and production methods of this wonderful fortified wine.
You will try a table wine from the used varieties, a red fortified wine from IG Lisboa and of course also a glass of the white Wine of Carcavelos.
What to expect
On this Carcavelos wine tasting tour, you’ll enjoy a guided walk through the vineyards and winery in Barcarena (about 15 minutes from Lisbon). Learn about the historic Carcavelos wine region — one of Portugal’s oldest demarcated wine regions — and gain insight into the traditional methods used to produce white, red, and sweet fortified wines.
