Discover the rebirth of the Dão wine region with this immersive Wine Estate Cooking Workshop in Nelas, near Viseu — a unique experience that blends vineyards, wine, gastronomy, and tradition in a modern and inspiring setting.
Set in the heart of the Dão, this contemporary wine estate is surrounded by 42 hectares of vineyards and represents the new generation of Portuguese wineries, where tradition meets innovation. During the experience, you’ll explore the full winemaking journey, gaining insight into the region often referred to as “The New Dão”, known for its fresh energy and renewed identity.
Your experience begins with a guided visit to the vineyards, winery and aging room, where you’ll learn about grape varieties, vinification methods, and how terroir shapes Dão wines — truly understanding the concept “from vineyard to wine.”
Then it’s time to get hands-on. Led by a local chef, this 2.5-hour cooking workshop introduces you to authentic regional gastronomy through a relaxed, interactive and creative approach. Together, you’ll prepare seven seasonal recipes, using fresh, local ingredients that reflect the flavors and traditions of the region.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll enjoy a guided tasting of three Dão wines, carefully paired with the dishes being prepared, enhancing the connection between food, wine and territory.
Designed for both beginners and experienced cooks, this experience offers the perfect balance between learning, tasting and enjoyment — all in a welcoming wine-estate atmosphere.

We really loved the experience! We had a private tour with Carolina, she was so sweet and thorough in her explanation of the whole wine making process, and very patient with all our questions. The wine tasting was fun and very personal. She even gave us some Port to taste after we asked a general question about it. We bought a few bottles of wine to take home and we can’t wait to taste and share those. Highly recommended and a beautiful, small scale experience.
