Our producer selected Estremoz to produce his own wines, after a lengthy career as a consultant winemaker in the main wine-growing regions of Portugal.
The first harvest at Estremoz dates from 1992, and in the following years, the wine was made within rented buildings. In 1997, vinification took place in the new estate for the first time.
Afterward, the construction of the winery in Estremoz finally began. At the winery Vila Santa, traditions and modern techniques combine to make a unique production process. For example, part of the grapes for more sophisticated wines are still trodden by foot to this day.
The winery today comprises some 9.000 square meters after having been enlarged. It is home to modern vinification technology, a bottling area and cellars with around 2.000 American, French, and Portuguese oak barrels that are used for aging the wines.
The company commissioned a brand new winery which stands as a testament to our farmer deep commitment to the region. The winery is the most sophisticated in Almeirim, with an impressive winemaking and bottling facility.
Creating a wine is an art that we have been perfecting for centuries, and now we want to share this art and production with you.
The vineyard is the perfect setting for a picnic. Take a basket with a selection of snacks prepared just for you. Let yourself be carried away by the magical landscape and enjoy the local delicacies with good wine.
Have a try at harvesting and grape picking.
