Enjoy an agricultural experience on an Avocado farm in Madeira
You can embark on an interesting tour that takes you closer to an avocado tree. In the farm, you spend part of your glorious time learning how avocados are planted and how to identify various varieties and species of avocados grown on slopes of Madeira Island.
What is included:
- Arrival at the farm and welcome by the producer
- Guided tour of the farm
- Workshop caring for, cleaning and maintaining a Avocado tree
- Harvest your own avocados
- Tasting avocados and honey cake from Madeira with wine/water
What is not included:
- Transportation to the farm (the farm is located 7 minutes by car and 13 minutes by bus from the center of funchal)

We went on a guided farm tour with Rui and Elisabete and we had a great time learning about the growing and farming process. Also they were wonderful hosts and fun people. Would recommend!
It was very interesting and I learned a lot about the production. He made me feel right at home and I would 100% do it again! Rui is very nice and connects with you easily!
The five of us spent 3 to 4 hours with Sr Rui and his wife Elisabete. We learnt all about bananas and avocados which Madeira is famous. The varieties, cultivation , transplanting etc. Elisabete then taught us how to make "Poncha", the famous madeirense liqueur including of course tasting it along with eating Madeira cake. An excellent outing to be recommended as a way to learn more about Madeira and its friendly inhabitants.
This was such a valuable experience! I HIGHLY recommend it! The farmer was very personable and full of knowledge. If you want to learn more about banana of Madeira, this is the experience for you!! In the end we made traditional Poncha, was incredible! Thank you PFE!
Had an amazing time today at Valter’s banana farm! 😃 We went for banana farm experience, we also saw many other fruits and got to see the varieties of bananas. 💯 Valter did an amazing tour and took good care of me and my friend, booking was on short notice but we were accommodated really well! Loved the food spread Valter created on a short notice! The homemade honey, farm grown fruits and the local bakery orange cake was amazing, even had them packed for our hotel. Would highly recommend this experience!
