The five of us spent 3 to 4 hours with our host and his wife. We learnt all about bananas and avocados which Madeira is famous. The varieties, cultivation , transplanting etc. His wife then taught us how to make "Poncha", the famous madeirense liqueur including of course tasting it along with eating Madeira cake. An excellent outing to be recommended as a way to learn more about Madeira and its friendly inhabitants.
