Visit a working organic olive farm in the Alentejo hills

In the Alentejo hills near Colos, a working organic olive farm produces extra virgin olive oil the way it should be: from tree to bottle within 4 to 6 hours, with no shortcuts and no additives. This guided farm visit takes you through the full process — from the groves of wild Galega olive trees to the on-site mill, where you can see exactly how the oil is extracted. Along the way, meet the farm’s resident animals and learn how small-batch organic production works in practice. The tour ends at the tasting bar, where you try the freshly pressed oil, then browse the farm shop with a 10% discount on all purchases.

Highlights

Tree to Bottle in 4 to 6 Hours. The olives are pressed on-site within hours of harvest — meaning the oil you taste at the tasting bar is as fresh as extra virgin olive oil gets.

See the Full Process. Most olive oil tastings skip the production side. Here, the on-site mill is part of the tour, and guests see exactly how the oil goes from fruit to bottle.

Over 300 Wild Galega Trees. The farm grows the Galega variety, one of Portugal’s most traditional olive cultivars, in the Alentejo hills — a landscape as much part of the experience as the oil itself.

Small Farm, Genuine Welcome. With a maximum of 25 guests per visit, this is a personal, unhurried experience — not a large-scale tourist operation.

Take the Taste Home. The farm shop sells 250ml and 500ml bottles of freshly pressed organic olive oil, with a 10% discount included for all tour guests.

Lovely place Alex Marshall

We stopped by and one of the owners, Sue, showed us around the farm. Really lovely place with old olive trees, chickens, a pressing facility, flower beds and a tasting room. I really liked the olive oil. We bought two bottles, an early harvest and a mid harvest. We also bought 11 eggs. Our daughter picked two of them right out of the chicken coop. Lovely place and I would like to come back.

Very good experience! Birgit Bonkowski

Sue and Haim’s olive oil is top-quality! The unfiltered oil, in particular, offers a wonderful taste experience with its slightly bitter note. The filtered oil is more gently fruity. Buying the oil directly from a small producer is also important to me. That way, I can see how the whole process works and can be sure I’m getting the best quality from our wonderful olives. I’m very happy to have these producers in my local area.

Highly recommend! Judith & Carlos

Our curiosity to discover the quality and taste of the oil from our own olives, happily led us to Sue and Haim. It has been a revelation and we are very happy with the result. Haim has produced an exclusive oil that has a wonderful fresh aroma and fruitiness. The speed and service of the pressing has been excellent and we will certainly send our olives to them next season. Thank you both!
