Our Producer
At 17 km from Évora, high-quality olive oil is born, a family project that combines the passion for the land with the dream of producing high-quality olive oil, extracted in the cold, from Galician olive trees of dry land, for over 62 years.
Farm History
Visit and discover the history of the Évora olive farm, learn about the Galician olive tree (native to Portugal) and sample 100% Galician extra virgin olive oil, appreciating its qualities in the shadow of a millenary “zambujeiro.” The local tasting of olive oil with the producer is the best way to learn how this liquid gold is made.
The Olives
The olives are picked manually, placed in 20kg boxes and processed on the same day, in order to discuss all the properties of olive oil.

This was such a wonderful experience. Every time I come to Portugal, I make sure to embark on one learning activity so I get to know the country, the people, the culture. The Alentejo fascinates me and the people who live in it are some of the most authentic people I have met in all my travels. João is now part of that group. His vision for his business and the heart, soul and passion he and his family pour into making his Galega olive oil representative of this region's story is something tourists like me support wholeheartedly. I hope to come back again, with the rest of my family next time, and enjoy once more the warm hospitality of the Alentejo people.
We tried this olive oil over a year ago and we finally were able to visit and it did not disappoint! Joao, the owner, is so lovely and really brings the story of the olive grove to life. We enjoyed lovely conversation and learned how to taste olive oil just as the sun was setting in Alentejo. It is one of my favorite visits i've made and I will definitely be back to enjoy a nice meal!
We booked the experience through Portugal Farm Experiences. They have a good range of experiences listed on their website to select from. They were responsive and helpful in arranging the experience for us. They provided all the details we needed including accurate directions to the location. They were also able to accommodate our tight schedule because we had to drive back to the airport that same day. The olive oil was very good quality and the overall experience itself was worth the journey. We enjoyed meeting the proprietor João and learning about his product. We look forward to trying more Portugal farm experiences and exploring more of Alentejo!
