In the marble wine country near Estremoz, one of the Alentejo’s most emblematic harvest traditions is still practiced in the same way it always has been: grapes stomped by foot in ancient marble lagares, releasing their juice slowly and naturally. This 2-hour experience invites visitors to do exactly that — to step into the lagares themselves and take part in a ritual that is as joyful as it is historic. The visit begins with a guided walk through the estate’s garden vineyard and continues through the winery and barrel cellar before the stomping session begins. It closes at the tasting table with a commented tasting of 4 wines harmonised with regional cheese, charcuterie, and Alentejo bread, and a 375ml bottle of wine per participant to take home.
