Follow the Shepherd

50,00 €

Our Hosts have a huge passion for Serra da Estrela. The deep knowledge of the community where they live in and of the mountain trails (Inês is a journalist and Miguel, an IT Specialist, has lived in this mountain since his childhood) allows us to reveal the stories of this territory. They also have training in geology and sustainable tourism, certificated by Geopark Estrela Association. It will be a privilege to show you the life of a shepherd.

In this tour, that lasts from 3 to 4 hours, you will follow the footsteps of a shepherd and his herd, looking for the greenest pastures. Be part of the shepherd's work day, listen to his stories and enter into communion with nature - smell, hear, feel and taste. At the end of the hiking activity, upon arriving at the pasture, you will share with him a small meal.

Location: Manteigas (180 min from Lisbon)

Duration: 4 hours  Number of people: 4 to 6 pax

Our experience will include:

  • Arrival to the meeting point and welcome by the hosts
  • Meeting with the shepherd
  • Hiking activity (we will follow, in the footsteps of the shepherd and his flocks, looking for the greener pastures)
  • Small meal with the shepherd
