Enjoy a Honey Experience in São Miguel – Azores!
This bee farm was a wine production farm where old vines of different varieties can still be seen. The farm nowadays no longer produces wine and is populated by species native to the Azores Island and other important species for bees.
From nectar to honey, there is a great journey. After the bees transform the nectar from flowers into honey, they store it in the hive, and it serves as food for the swarm. However, bees store more than they consume. How is honey extracted?
On this visit to a honey house (the place where honey is extracted), you will discover and experience the honey extraction process until it reaches the table.
At the end of the visit, we provide the opportunity to taste the different types of honey from the Azores in a blind tasting to understand the influence of flora on the flavors, colors, and aromas of each honey.

My friend and I loved our time with Carla and her honeybees. She was very welcoming when we first arrived and very knowledgeable throughout our whole experience. She made us feel very comfortable around the bees and always explained what she was doing and why. And the honey is delicious! If you are in São Miguel and value local, unique experiences you should definitely pay a visit !
Amazing tour! Great to learn about the incredible and complex world of bees. The tour guide is super friendly and at the end we could even try delicious bread with honey and lemonade. A must-go!
We had a very special time today! the passion of the farmer for the world of bees really shows. Being able to wear the professional beekeeping gear and see a hive from close up were unique experiences. We also really enjoyed tasting the honey. We would love to do it again. This was a fantastic experience! Carla is such a sweet person and really knows her way around bees. We felt very comfortable getting up close, and seeing the inner workings of the Hive. The honey itself is delicious, as is her lemonade. Definitely swing by here for a tour!
This was one of the best and most unique experiences during our time in Sao Miguel! As the owner only started hosting private tours to her apiary this year, this experience is not yet well known and even our tour guides were not familiar with it! With that said, it was still difficult getting a booking and it is only a matter of time before the word gets out! Definitely do this when you’re in Sao Miguel and it is definitely suitable for families with small children. An informative and interactive experience where you can get an inside look into the world of honeybees! Highly recommended!
