Harvest fresh herbs in Évora, cook traditional Alentejo recipes!
Immerse yourself in Alentejo’s culinary traditions with a hands-on Harvest, Cook & Eat workshop set on a local aromatic farm near Évora.
The experience begins with a guided visit to the farm, where you’ll identify a variety of aromatic herbs and learn about their traditional uses in Alentejan cuisine. During the visit, you’ll also harvest the herbs that will later be used to prepare the sauces, side dishes, seasonings, and beverages enjoyed at lunch.
Guided by local hosts, you’ll learn how to prepare traditional Alentejo recipes inspired by the book Sal Verde, such as migas à alentejana, açorda sauce, and aromatic seasonings for cheese, olives, meat, and fish.
Throughout the workshop, participants are encouraged to taste and snack on what they are preparing, making this a relaxed, interactive, and sensory experience. Weather permitting, both the workshop and lunch take place outdoors, under the shade of a majestic ash tree in the farm’s citrus orchard.
This experience is ideal for food lovers, hands-on travelers, and anyone curious about the connection between herbs, tradition, and flavor in Portuguese rural cuisine.
