Taste the delicious Madeira cherries at one of the last cherry farms on the island, in Jardim da Serra, 20 minutes from Funchal. Converted to organic production in 2004, the farm has long produced cider across several generations, and includes it in every experience. Over 2 hours, take a guided farm tour, join a workshop on organic cherry production, harvesting and selection, pick your own cherries, and finish with a tasting of regional cherry varieties paired with cider or water and homemade jam. Taste the delicious Madeira Cherries in one of the last cherry farm of the island!
At the end of the last century, the family acquired a small property of around 1 hectare in the Madeira highlands. In 2004, this property began the conversion process to an organic farm. Since then, the family has essentially dedicated themselves to producing and selling the most delicious fruits the Madeira highlands have to offer. They are also cider producers across several generations, and believe the best way to perpetuate this tradition is by promoting its consumption — which is why cider is included in every experience.

When I was growing up, one the real luxuries we had at Christmas was cherries. In Perth they were very expensive, so now that I live in Portugal I still regard cherries as a luxury, but they are affordable. We took some overseas guests to the Madeira Cherry Farm, and they loved it. You can eat as many cherries as you want as you pick. It's a lot of fun and its an activity where kids can join in. Thank you!
