About the Wild Fermented Drinks Experience

Step into the fascinating world of wild fermented drinks on a guided experience in Ferreira do Zêzere, just 20 minutes from Tomar. In this practical, nature-based workshop, you’ll explore how local plants can be used in fermentation, learn the fundamentals of the process, and create your own drink to take home.

This experience takes place within a unique project focused on building a biodiversity sanctuary and a regenerative, botanical, community forest—designed to value rural land while promoting sustainability and environmental education through hands-on activities.

What’s Included

  • In this practical workshop, we will learn a simple fermentation method that can be used with various natural plants.
  • The workshop focuses on creating a pine soda, a fermented drink with many health benefits, including probiotics, vitamins A and C, and anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties, with benefits for the immune system, respiratory system, and mental health.
  • The workshop lasts 2 hours and includes a brief explanation of the fermentation process, plant harvesting, and production of a 500ml drink per person to take home.
  • It also includes a glass bottle and tasting of various wild fermented drinks at the end of the activity, as well as a space for sharing and knowledge.
