Highlights

The Montado and the Table — Two Sides of the Alentejo. This experience combines the two things the Alentejo does best: a wild, ancient landscape of cork oak and mato, and a generous, slow-cooked traditional table. Together they make a complete portrait of southern Portugal.

Traditional Alentejo Food, in the Right Place. Lunch is at a local restaurant in Torrão — not a tourist dining room, but the kind of place where Alentejo cooking is done the way it has always been done. Migas, carne de porco à alentejana, açorda, and slow-cooked dishes served with honest regional wine.

The Story of Cork, on the Ground. Understanding how cork is harvested once every nine years, without damaging the tree, is a different experience when you’re standing among the trees with a local guide. This is where the story makes sense.

Rice Fields in the Alentejo — A Rare Aside. The passage through the estate’s working rice fields is an unexpected and memorable detail that surprises most guests — a reminder of how diverse the Alentejo landscape really is.

Private, Maximum 4 Guests. The Jeep holds up to 4 people, keeping the entire experience genuinely personal — from the off-road tour to the lunch table.

A fantastic way to discover the real Alentejo Tommy Pedersen

The private Jeep tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Driving through the cork oak forest, farmland and riverside trails made us feel like we were discovering a side of Portugal that most visitors never see. Our guide explained how cork is harvested and why the montado ecosystem is so important. Beautiful scenery and a very authentic experience.

Unique! Nikki Biggs

We loved exploring the estate by Jeep. The ancient cork oak trees are impressive and it was fascinating to learn that cork can be harvested from the same tree every nine years without damaging it. The rice fields were also a complete surprise! Because the tour is private, everything felt relaxed and personal. Highly recommended if you want to experience rural Portugal away from the usual tourist routes.

Just wonderful! Walter Zollinger

Such a memorable experience! The off-road Jeep ride through the wild landscape was great fun, but what really made the tour special was learning about the cork oak trees and the traditional way cork is produced. The landscape around the estate is stunning and incredibly peaceful. We also loved the drive past the Vale do Gaio dam on the way there. Definitely worth the visit.
