Quick Details
This is the most complete version of the Sintra organic farm experience — and the only one that ends with a farm lunch made from ingredients you harvested yourself. Over 3 hours, you explore the working organic farm in the mountains of Sintra, learn the principles of sustainable agriculture, meet and feed the farm animals, and get your hands into seasonal farm work — planting, harvesting, or caring for plants, depending on the day. Then you move to the kitchen with the chef and farmers, where you learn how each ingredient will be used and how the dishes are prepared.

Cook with the chef & eat lunch at a farm in Sintra
Thirty minutes from Lisbon, in the mountains of Sintra, this 3-hour experience is the most complete farm-to-table journey available near the capital. It begins in the field — learning the principles of organic agriculture from the farmer, meeting the animals, and getting hands-on with whatever the farm needs that day: planting seeds, harvesting seasonal vegetables, or caring for crops. Then it moves to the kitchen, where the farm’s chef introduces each ingredient and explains how the dishes are prepared. The experience ends at the table with a fresh farm lunch made entirely from what was grown on the property.
Itinerary
- Arrival at the organic farm in Sintra. Welcome from Manuel and introduction to the farm, its history, certification, and approach to sustainable agriculture
- Sustainability workshop — learn the core principles of organic farming: soil health, water management, natural pest control, biodiversity, and how animals and insects are part of the system
- Farm walk — guided tour of the growing areas, greenhouses, and seasonal crops. Identify what is being produced and why organic methods produce food of a fundamentally different quality
- Animal time — meet and feed the farm animals. An important part of understanding the circular relationship between animals and organic soil
- Hands-on farm activity — participate in whatever the farm needs that day: planting new seeds, harvesting seasonal vegetables, or caring for plants. Activity varies by season
- Kitchen workshop — move to the kitchen with the farm chef. Learn about each ingredient that will be used, how the dishes are prepared, and how the meal connects directly to what you just harvested
- Farm lunch — sit down to a fresh farm lunch prepared by the chef from ingredients grown on the property. The most direct expression of farm-to-table possible
- Q&A and departure — open time with Manuel to ask questions, explore the farm, and depart.

Highlights
From the Field to the Table — In Three Hours This experience covers the full farm-to-table journey without a gap. You harvest the vegetables. You watch the chef prepare them. You eat the result. The connection between field and plate — which most people understand only in the abstract — becomes completely concrete in three hours at this farm. It is one of the most powerful food experiences available near Lisbon.
The Kitchen Workshop — Where the Farm Meets the Chef After the field work, the experience moves to the kitchen. The farm’s chef introduces each ingredient you helped harvest, explains the dishes being prepared, and shows how seasonal organic produce is cooked to let the flavour speak. This is not a cooking class — it is a guided window into how a farm kitchen works, and why food grown this way tastes fundamentally different.
Sustainable Agriculture Made Tangible Before the hands-on work begins, Manuel explains the principles behind everything you are about to do — why organic soil behaves differently from conventional soil, how biodiversity is managed rather than controlled, and why the animals on the farm are part of the production system, not a separate attraction. By the time you sit down to eat, you understand exactly where your food came from and why it matters.
Manuel — A Host Who Shares His World Laurie B visited in August 2025 and described Manuel as “a fantastic host” who shared “the history of the farm, the organic food and the wine.” That description captures the essence of what this tour delivers — not a guided visit, but genuine access to the knowledge and passion of the person who built the farm. The food is exceptional. The host makes it unforgettable.
The Premium Sintra Farm Experience — For Groups of All Sizes With pricing scaled from €99 per person for larger groups (13–20) to €217 for pairs, this tour offers flexibility for families, small groups of friends, and larger parties alike. The 3-hour format, the farm lunch, and the mountain setting in Sintra make it the most complete and highest-value farm-to-table experience available within 30 minutes of Lisbon.
