Volcanic soils account for only 1 percent of the world’s surface but contribute a much larger percentage of the world’s great vineyards. Volcanic wines have captivated adventurous wine lovers looking to shock their palates with something different.
This is a micro-production wine from the volcanic Azores islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is grown in volcanic basalt at sea level, less than 50m from the Atlantic. This terroir and the blend of varieties imbue this wine with incredible minerality and purity, as well as unmistakable stony flavors, salinity and a savory character, minerality and volcanic wines walk hand-in-hand.Volcanic wine regions are home to some of the most intriguing and characterful wines in the world.

Vítor was a phenomenal tour guide. My wife and I loved the volcanic wine tour. Vítor was extremely knowledgeable about the entire island, and welcomed us into his home as he part of the tour. Eating and drinking with Vítor and his wife was an incredible experience. I highly the tour!
Victor was an amazing tour guide, he showed us places that we would've never found ourselves and he was so knowledgeable about the history of the azores. He told us so many interesting stories! The wine tasting and tapas and his house made us feel so welcome and it was almost like spending an evening with friends at home! He went out of his way to make us feel at home, can only recommend! Vitor is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the island he has lived on his entire life. We enjoyed the whole day tour that included some sights you wouldn't see with a big tour company. He and his wife also provided a cooking class that included local delights and a fabulous meal with local meats and wine along with the dessert we made in class. Truly a professional that takes pride in what he does. Don't take a big bus tour stick with a small local guide.
